Akiavel "Væ Victis" <REVIEW>
Yes… that was a weird time for me stuck in that hourglass. And I know there are many questions so let me go over them super quick. How did you get in there? Did you get sand in your ass? Do you want to go back? To which my answers are: “I don’t know.” “More than I’m comfortable with.” And “Absolutely not, it’s coarse and gets everywhere!”
Anyways, Akiavel is a 4 piece death metal band from France, aka, not Quebec. They are a relatively new band, they’ve only been around since 2018 and have put out one EP and a full length called V. Now unlike my other reviews where I usually go in blind with a band I’m not familiar with, I have listened to a bit of these guys through single releases. Primarily with their song “Frozen Beauties”, which has garnered the band quite the fanbase since its release earlier this month.
And for good reason, I don’t know how the album will turn out, but that song did a great job getting me hyped for the full release, with aggressive riffs, melodic choruses, hard hitting drums and vocal growls lower than my self-esteem, there’s just a lot to love!
But can Akiavel keep up that clout for a whole 40-minute experience? What’s going to be the overall consensus when we maximize the runtime of a single sound? Check out the video below or by clicking HERE.
