SODOM Announces New EP, '1982'

In the spring of 1982, in the gritty industrial landscape of Essen, Stauderstraße, a trio of long-haired rebels embarked on a musical odyssey that would redefine the thrash metal genre. In a musty rehearsal room nestled in the heart of Altenessen district, Sodom was born. They were not seeking perfection in musical harmony; instead, they were driven by a rebellious spirit that defied conformity and challenged the status quo.

Tom Angelripper, the driving force behind Sodom, recalls those tumultuous beginnings with a wry smile, "Basically, we chose the wrong key, but we weren't about musical correctness, we were all about attitude. We were against the establishment, we were in trouble with our teachers and training supervisors because, in their opinion, we wore the wrong clothes and listened to the wrong kind of music. At vocational college, I was the only one into metal. All the others listened to New Wave or Neue Deutsche Welle."

Fast forward 41 years, and the echoes of that formative era still resonate strongly in the present. To pay homage to their roots, Sodom has crafted a track aptly named 1982, a musical journey that retraces the band's initial steps both musically and lyrically. This track serves as a powerful testament to their enduring legacy.

But that's not all; Sodom is taking this celebration to the next level. They have immortalized not only 1982 but also re-recordings of their early classics: "Witching Metal," "Victims Of The Death," "Let’s Fight In The Darkness Of Hell," and "Equinox." These timeless gems, previously confined to the annals of history, are now available on vinyl and some on CD for the very first time. It's a chance for fans, old and new, to experience the raw, unadulterated essence of Sodom's music as it was meant to be.

Adding to the excitement, Sodom is releasing a brand-new EP titled 1982. This EP not only captures the spirit of their formative years but also showcases their unwavering dedication to the thrash metal genre. It's a musical journey that bridges the past and the present, a testament to Sodom's ability to evolve while staying true to their roots.
