Blackened Death/Doom Offensive 1914 Re-Issue of Monumental Album, 'Eschatology of War'
In the darkness of war, where horrors lurk and history's grimmest tales unfold, one band has fearlessly embraced the madness and crafted an unforgettable musical journey through the haunting echoes of World War I. Enter Ukrainian blackened death/doom metal visionaries, 1914, whose debut album Eschatology of War shook the metal world upon its initial release in 2015. Now, this opus of anguish and brutality returns with a vengeance, slated to unleash itself tomorrow (August 4, 2023), through Napalm Records in various thrilling physical fan editions.
The announcement of the album's re-release has left fans ecstatic, eagerly anticipating the chance to own a piece of metal history. But why is this album so significant? Inspired by the harrowing madness of war, Eschatology of War delves deep into various historical events from the Great War, including the Battles of Gallipoli and Verdun, the gas attack at Ypres, the Brusilovsky breakthrough, the chilling Christmas truce, and even the bombing of London. It's a sonic journey that immerses listeners into the darkest depths of human conflict. If you wanted to know if Sabaton was a blackened death/doom band, this is it!
But the band's contributions go beyond their music. 1914 has released a special Ukraine support “Onto Victory” shirt, along with charity tapes of The Blind Leading The Blind and Eschatology of War. The profits from these exclusive merch items will be converted into much-needed resources for the brave defenders of Ukraine. This move speaks volumes about the band's commitment to not only showcasing the horrors of war through their art but also taking tangible steps to support their fellow countrymen.
In their powerful statement, 1914 urges their fans to join them in the battle against dictatorship, fascism, tyranny, and the cult of personality: "You can help us to win this war. Every sold t-shirt will be converted into a donation. Every donation will be converted into vehicles, helmets, armored plates, medicine and drones for our defenders. Let's win this horrible war against dictatorship, fascism, tyranny and the cult of personality together!"
As the release date draws near, the excitement for Eschatology of War is palpable. Fans are eager to experience the horrors, the brilliance, and the emotional turmoil that 1914 has woven into their musical tapestry. It is a testament to the power of art, the resilience of the human spirit, and the importance of remembering history's darkest moments to ensure they are never repeated.
