Your voice over questions, answered!

  • A voice over is a voice recording made by a professional voice artist — used by YouTubers, radio and TV stations, podcasters and businesses to deliver information in a professional way.

  • I record my voice overs into an Audio Technica AT2020 microphone inside an ISOVOX 2 Vocal booth for room dampening. That then goes through a RODECASTER PRO II with light EQ and compression effects baked, which gets recorded into Adobe Audition CC, which I use for editing.

  • Include punctuation and pronunciation for certain names and words — it is by far the most frequent reason for revisions (or rather, the lack of it!).

    Use “…” to indicate a pause and full stops so we know where each sentence ends. And provide prounciation guides for people’s names or words that require specific pronunciation or are not common names.

    A simple thing that makes a big impact on how your voice over is read.

  • Usually they can be provided in the script to ensure I can voice it as I read.

    They can be as simple as writing words as they sound (e.g. Tom McKay bcomes [TAWM mih-KAY])

  • I offer broadcast quality services at competitive prices to ensure you get the best possible sounding result without breaking the bank.

    Plus I am proven and tested amongst the various Metal Robot Studio podcasts and YouTube channel for over 10 years, as well as many other channels who have hired me in the past.

  • Up to 3 revisions are always included in each package with no extra charge. Additional revisions, however, will add $5 per revision to the final total.

    To be clear as well: the final invoice will not be sent until you are satisfied with the order.

  • To clarify, when talking about A.I., I do not use - and never will use - any form of generative A.I. for voice or audio projects.

    However, certain audio processing plugins (such as breath remover or plosive remover) sometimes have an A.I. of sorts built into the software. And for podcasting I use A.I. software to create transcriptions, such as Riverside or Turboscribe.

    If you need further clarification on my policy regarding A.I. use, feel free to ask.

  • Under no circumstances are you allowed to use my voice in your training data for any purpose, whether to repurpose my voice for A.I. voice generation, or anything else, NO EXCEPTIONS.

    This also applies to any other multimedia projects under the Metal Robot Studios brand.
