September’s “What Have You Been Listening To?” is absolute chaos in the best way possible. Collin and Tom are joined by Collin’s best friend Justin, who instantly throws the entire format into disarray with a list that has steps FAR away from metal most of the time.
Instead, he comes armed with Jimmy Buffett, Hamilton’s Arkells covering “Dancing Queen”, and even his old roommate’s indie rock band moondoggy. Meanwhile, Collin is fighting off a full-blown moral crisis with Whore of Bethlehem before unleashing a wave of thrash, death, and pit-ready brutality with Violator, BAEST, Nicolas Cage Fighter, and Between the Buried and Me.
Tom, of course, wanders off into the wilderness—bringing Igorrr’s bizarre new Amen, diving into gothic symphonics with Blackbriar, storming through doom with Krigsgrav, and even dragging the guys into a Renaissance Fair singalong courtesy of the Angry Bard. Somewhere in the middle, the trio find themselves gushing about Green Day and Nirvana like it’s 2004 again.
So what’s the catch? Will Justin shock everyone by sneaking in a metal band? Will Collin’s list end in total annihilation? And will Tom’s number one be the least surprising pick in podcast history?
There’s only one way to find out. Hit play and enjoy the ride!
