IoMP 126: We Saw Megadeth at Canada Life Place in London

Three legendary thrash bands. One Canadian arena. Two metalheads with opinions.

In this episode of the Influencers of Metal Podcast, Collin & Tom pile into the car and head to London for a stacked thrash metal lineup featuring Megadeth, Anthrax, and Exodus at Canada Life Place.

And yes… they absolutely reviewed the whole experience like the metal nerds they are.

The episode kicks off with what might be the greatest merch experience either of them has ever had at a show after a terrible dinner experience. Thanks to an unexpected early merch booth inside the arena, the guys managed to score shirts before the crowds arrived—no lineups, no panic buying, and even the rare chance to try shirts on before committing. From hockey-themed parody merch to Canadian-specific tour designs, all three bands clearly leaned into the spirit of a Canadian tour.

Then it’s time to break down the venue itself. For Tom, it was his first visit to Canada Life Place, while Collin was already familiar with the arena. The pair discuss the surprisingly strong acoustics, the clean layout, and the solid sightlines from their seats. They also share a moment that could’ve gone very wrong—but ended up becoming one of the funniest stories of the night—when the usher guiding them to their seats accidentally took a tumble on the stairs.

Once the show begins, the focus shifts to the bands themselves.

The guys talk about Exodus opening the night with relentless energy while quietly promoting their upcoming material, Anthrax delivering a set full of personality and crowd appreciation, and Megadeth closing out the night with the kind of veteran performance you’d expect from one of thrash metal’s biggest names.

They also reflect on what made the tour feel unique: this wasn’t just a stop on a massive North American tour—it felt like a show designed specifically for Canadian fans.

From road trip planning and merch adventures to thrash metal chaos and arena quirks, this episode is a full recap of one unforgettable night.

If you’ve ever traveled for a metal show, bought merch you probably shouldn’t have, or argued about the best set of the night on the drive home… this episode will feel very familiar.
