There’s a lot to be gloomy about in 2019, and here to provide the soundtrack to these grim and desperate times are Her Despair. Taking their inspirations from the heyday of goth rock, the UK sextet bring these up to the modern era with their own twist. After an exceptionally successful EP entitled Mournography, which garnered the band copious amounts of international attention, they are back with their third release, Exorcisms of Eroticism.
When talking about the album, the band stated: “We are thrilled to unveil the entirety of our brand new release ‘Exorcisms of Eroticism,’ courtesy of the spirits of the damned at Ghost Cult. These songs define the latest incarnation of HER DESPAIR, and were laboured over with intense passion. Turn off the lights and ignite the seance candles to set an appropriate atmosphere; we hope you will find euphoria within the sorrows on display…”
The album is six tracks in length and with a sound described as a balance between heaviness and catchiness, their appears to be a lot to love about this band’s sound that bring in fans from all corners of the goth world. If you’re fans of Fields of the Nephilim, HIM, or even The 69 Eyes, then this band might be up your alley. You’ll never know until you dive right in to see what’s so erotic about this particular exorcism.
