Exclusive Documentary Premiere: Beekeeper "Lord of the Bees" Tour Part II
So Beekeeper has returned this week for Part II of their Lord of the Bees Tour documentary showcase of three friends goofing off on the road while playing vicious, unapologetic music. The Bee Movie worshipers from San Diego have been ones to keep an eye on in the underground California thrash scene for their brand of chaotic heavy music. Of course, this is in part due to the craftsmanship of their musical capabilities. Usually there are a lot of metal bands with their brand of thrash metal who are just doing the same shit that Slayer was doing over 30 years ago, only with less talent. But when you have a band with a relentless bass player like Adam Wollach, the not only heavy, but larger than life drum sounds of Dylan Marks, and the shrieking power of Ally Levine’s voice complimented by her raw aggressive guitar playing, it’s safe to say that there’s a lot to love about this band.
I’m not kidding about that either, whenever I get butthurt thrash elitists coming my way with the same bullshit of “IT’S SUPPOSED TO SOUND LIKE THAT CUMSWATH” which is usually the more colourful comments I get from those guys, I’m usually high and dry when it comes to proving them wrong. Thankfully bands like Overt Enemy have helped shut them up, but now I have a band like Beekeeper in my collection of thrash bands that don’t have to suck senpai’s left testicle to be considered a Thrash Metal band.
But that’s just the musical side of a band’s better half. What about their presence live? Are they entertaining? Is the band relatable? Do they rip the heads off of karate kickers in the pit? The answer to all those is Yes, yes and possibly, but authorities refuse to comment. We already saw in Part I of this documentary series that they are a group of friends hanging out, which is always the best way to create a dynamic between the members and create amazing chemistry not only in the music, but also in the live performances. They not only continue this trend in Part II, but they further exemplify this fact by proving they are a band to be taken seriously. You need more proof? Go watch the video below:
Once again, they are still using this time to promote their music from their debut album Slaves to the Nothing, which came out back in 2017 and is available on Bandcamp for streaming and buying the album to support the music scene. You can check out the music video for album opener “Vargas” below, along with checking out the band online.
