IoMP 172: Our DREAM 5-Band Metal Festival Lineups
Collin & Tom

After more than 70 episodes stranded on a desert island, you would think Collin and Tom would be focused on survival…

… well, Collin is, at least.

Tom, however, has spotted something in the distance: two mysterious festival stages. Collin insists they don't exist, but that's not going to stop the Influencers of Metal Podcast from booking the greatest imaginary metal festival this island has ever seen.

The rules are simple: five bands. One stage. Build your dream festival lineup.

For the Metal Robot Stage, Tom quickly discovers that his festival has a progressive streak. Canadian progressive death metal newcomers Omnivide open the show before Castle Rat brings its theatrical old-school doom to the island. From there, Mastodon takes things into heavier progressive territory before two giants of the genre close the night: Opeth and headliner Dream Theater.

Meanwhile, Collin reluctantly stops fishing long enough to book the Thrashing Stage of Paradise — although despite the name, this thing becomes a full-blown death metal festival. Frozen Soul gets the pit moving before Polish legends Vader take over. The criminally underappreciated Jungle Rot follows, Canadian death metal veterans Kataklysm take the co-headlining spot, and finally, Collin gets another chance to properly experience the band Ottawa traffic once robbed him of seeing: Cannibal Corpse.

Two stages. Ten bands. Prog, doom, death metal and enough brutality to make the local island wildlife deeply concerned.

Click play, check out both dream festival lineups, and then tell us: which stage are YOU choosing?
